I began training in Tai Chi Chuan in 1988. Prior to taking up this art I had spent the previous couple of years training in aikido. The first 10 or so years of tai chi training were with Ian Cameron and his Five Winds group. Since around the turn of the century my teacher has been Dan Docherty.
Over the period of training I have experienced a variety of other martial arts; a bit of wing chun, some karate, a bit of stick fighting and a couple of years worth of ba gua. Since starting training with mr Docherty, I have travelled far, visiting China on a number of occasions and many destinations in Europe, to train with others of the pttci family. Another reason for the travelling has been judging at competitions, both national and international. As a group we have worked with many voluntary organisations, in work places, universities, schools and hospitals, teaching tai chi and chi gung. |
